Iraq undaunted by Saudi plots to undermine the country’s political process

TEHRAN,July 13(MNA)--Saudi Arabia’s thirst for interference in the internal affairs of other Arab countries seems to be insatiable, and it has redoubled its efforts to destabilize Iraq over the past few weeks. This move comes despite the fact that the Saudis have failed to realize their objectives in Syria, where they have been one of the main supporters of the rebels fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad. The Saudis have also played a prominent role in the crackdown on the popular demonstrations in Bahrain, where the people are demanding their freedom and their rights and calling for an end to the oppression they experience every day. Almost no Arab country on the planet has been able to avoid Saudi intervention over the past few years. For example, there is a massive amount of evidence proving that Riyadh hires terrorists to conduct subversive activities in Lebanon and Iraq, and there have been many bombings in these countries that have killed a large number of innocent civilians. The Saudi ruling class gets great satisfaction from these incidents because their only goal is to weaken the democratic process in Lebanon, Iraq, and every other Arab country in order to prevent ideas about democracy from taking hold in their own country. The monarchist regime of Saudi Arabia is a tribal, inhumane, and irreligious system that only serves the interests of the United States and Israel, and it supports governments like Turkey, which do not show enough respect for their people and suppress the popular demand for change. The extremist Saudi regime is using every means at its disposal to destroy the popular movement attempting to establish democracy and freedom in every corner of the Arab world, and the Saudis are also pursuing this policy in Iraq. Many terrorists arrested by the Iraqi security forces for conducting acts of sabotage and other subversive activities have said that the Saudi government is their main supporter. Iraq is currently on the correct path. The government of Iraq is trying to regain its rightful position in the region while striving to create a just and inclusive political system that is acceptable to all of the country’s religious and ethnic groups. And the Iraqi nation will surely continue this process, undaunted by the plots devised by certain states, such as Saudi Arabia. Kawkab al-Attar is a former member of the Iraqi parliament.
