Iran`s Foolad defeats Persepolis in friendly

TEHRAN,July 16(MNA) – Foolad football team defeated Persepolis in a friendly in Tehran’s Takhti Stadium on Sunday night. Ahvaz based team beat Persepolis 2-1 in front of about 4,000 spectators. Mehdi Noori gave the visiting team a lead after 17 minutes into the match and Esmaeil Sharifat doubled Foolad’s lead in the 55th minute. Ghasem Dehnavi pulled a goal back in the 61st minute from the penalty spot. Persepolis will also play a friendly with Saipa on Thursday. Two teams are preparing themselves for new season of the Iran Professional League (IPL) which will begin on July 24. Persepolis will host Tractor Sazi in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium and Foolad will play Sepahan in Isfahan in the IPL first week.
