LDP Secretary General Hosoda says no Diet dissolution by year-end

TOKYO, Nov. 9 Kyodo - The secretary general of the governing Liberal Democratic Party said Sunday
Prime Minister Taro Aso will probably not dissolve parliament for a general
election by the end of this year.
Hiroyuki Hosoda, appearing on a program of Fuji Television Network, said of a
possible dissolution of the Diet by the year's end, ''There will probably be
none. I believe it has been put off until slightly later.''
Hosoda apologized for the differing views that have emerged within the
government and the ruling parties on whether or not an income cap should be set
on disbursements of cash coupons in the recently announced package of
additional economic stimulus measures.
Hosoda said these coupons ''will have a pump-priming effect. People are
welcoming them and there is no better way.'' Details of the cash coupon plan
would be worked out within days, he suggested.
