Over 30 People Injured In Kashmir Violence

New Delhi, July 21, IRNA - Over 30 people, including 15 security personnel, were injured as fresh pitched battles between youths, protesting the killing of four civilians in BSF firing, and police erupted at several places in curfew-bound Kashmir Valley Saturday.
Police fired teargas shells, rubber bullets and swung batons to quell violence as clashes took place at a number of places, officials said.
Protesters hurled stones at police, they said, adding that 32 people, including 15 police and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, were injured in the fresh violence.
A police spokesman put the number of the injured at 17, 15 security men and two civilians. He said the injured were in stable condition.
The situation was by and large peaceful in the entire Valley, the spokesman said.
Nearly 100 people, 65 of them police and CRPF personnel, were injured since Friday in clashes sparked by the killing of four people in Ramban in firing by the Border Security Force (BSF).
Curfew, clamped in the wee hours Friday, remained in force in all areas, the officials said./end
