Thai business circle urged to invest in Myanmar
BANGKOK, July 22 (TNA) - The Thai Chamber of Commerce has urged local businesses in the southwestern border province of Ranong to expand their investment opportunities into Myanmar.
Speaking at a seminar on “Directions of Ranong's Economy", the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s Vice President Surin To-tap-tiang said Ranong province was on the verge of change from fisheries to trade and in the future the province would become an important trade linkage between Thailand and Myanmar after the ASEAN Community (AC) formation in 2015.
Surin noted that geographically, Ranong could be used as a gateway to connect to other southern Asian countries as well. However, the most urgent matter for the province at the moment was to look for more trade expansion opportunities for local business entrepreneurs to move into Myanmar, especially in the south of the country.
