Iran accounts for 25 percent of research output in Mideast

TEHRAN,July 28(MNA) – Iran accounts for about 25 percent of total research output in the Middle East region, according to the director of the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC). “Iran, Turkey, and a number of Arab countries have increased their share in global research output in the last decade,” Jafar Mehrdad said in the city of Shiraz, Fars Province, on Saturday. “However, I acknowledge the fact that over the past 10 years, the research output of regional countries has increased only from two to four percent,” added the director of the ISC, a newly-established ranking center which ranks the universities of the Islamic countries.
