Rohani: Efforts Must Be Made For Asia To Attain Due Status In World

Tehran, Aug 6, IRNA – President Hassan Rohani described Tehran-Beijing ties as growing, saying that efforts should be made for Asia to attain its due status in the world. In a meeting with visiting Chinese Culture Minister Cai Wu, he evaluated the Chinese role in international community as significant as a permanent member of United Nations Security Council. Iran believes that development of bilateral ties will further guarantee mutual interests, he said. Wu, for his part, said that Iran and China boast ancient cultures and civilizations and can play crucial role in modern world. Describing nuclear energy as Iranian indisputable right, he further noted that China believes that dialogue is the only way to resolve the issue not sanctions and pressures. Wu is on a visit to Tehran to take part in swearing-in ceremony of President Hassan Rohani held on Sunday. Rohani won Iranian June 24 presidential election with 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704,156 ballots. The voter turnout in the election was 72.7 percent. /end
