20,000 DIRHAM SALARY REQUIRED FOR LOAN, SAYS HSBC

DUBAI, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- Individuals in the United Arab Emirates earning a minimum monthly salary of less than 20,000 dirham (RM19,330) will not qualify for a personal loan from HSBC.

The previous minimum monthly salary threshold was 10,000 dirham (RM9,665).

Citing an HSBC statement, Arabian Business reported that the increase,
effective Nov 1, was prompted by the global credit crunch.

The bank said the new credit eligibility criteria would ensure that
customers received loans that they could afford to repay at a time of
considerable uncertainty around the world.
