INTRADE M`SIA 2008 EXPECTS TO GENERATE OVER RM3 BLN IN SALES By Premalatha Jayaraman
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- Intrade Malaysia 2008 is expected to
generate sales of more than RM3 billion, said its senior director for product
and services development division, Susila Devi.
"We are working hard and will strive to record better sales this year," she
told Bernama here Tuesday.
The event, organised by Malaysia External Trade Development Corp (Matrade),
will be held from Nov 13-16, at the Matrade Exhibition and Convention
Centre.
Intrade Malaysia 2008, themed "Optimising Global Opportunities", is aimed
at providing Malaysian companies and entrepreneurs as well as international
businesses a platform to further expand trade and investment opportunities in
the inter-regional and global markets.
Susila said over 340 exhibitors from over 30 countries, among them from
Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, South Korea, Japan and Sudan, were
expected to participate this year.
She said 80 percent of the exhibitors were Malaysian companies from various
industries including food and beverages, automotive, furniture, tiles, building
materials and household items.
"Among the 297 local companies participating in the event are Proton (the
national car maker), Sime Darby (multi national company), DRB HICOM (automotive
company) and Modenas (national motorcycle company)," she said.
She said Intrade Malaysia 2008 was expected to attract over 15,000 visitors
compared with 10,000 last year.
"Matrade is providing shuttle bus services from Putra World Trade Centre,
KL
Sentral and KLCC.
"The event is open to the public from Nov 15-16," she said.
Susila said the exhibition would showcase a wide range of quality products
and services from around the world.
She said 700 international buyers, representing 540 companies from 60
countries worldwide, would participate in the one-on-one business-matching
sessions.
Another event to be held concurrently with Intrade Malaysia 2008 is the KL
International Trade Forum 2008 on Nov 13, she said.
