Iran FM Calls For Vigilance Against Regional Plots

Tehran, Aug 27, IRNA – Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif condemned recent bombings in Lebanon, stressing the need to stay vigilant against regional plots aimed at sowing discord among various Islamic sects. In a telephone conversation with his Lebanese counterpart Adnan Mansour Sunday evening, Zarif conveyed condolences of the Iranian nation and government to their Lebanese brothers for the deadly twin blasts in Tripoli. At least 47 were killed and 500 wounded after car bombings targeted two mosques in Tripoli as worshipers were leaving prayers. Zarif underlined the need for further expansion of Tehran-Beirut cooperation to settle crises and help upgrade security and stability throughout the region./end
