Thai government finds ways to ease impacts of rising costs

BANGKOK, September 4 (TNA) - The Thai government is seeking ways to relieve people's burden from rising costs of living. Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra held a meeting with economic ministers on Wednesday morning to discuss measures to assist people from impacts of the rising costs of living. Present at the meeting included Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittirat Na-Ranong, Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Niwatthamrong Bunsongphaisan, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister's Office and Deputy Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Varathep Rattanakorn and other concerned authorities. The concerned Thai Cabinet members and authorities discussed assistance for people, after cooking gas prices, electricity fees and expressway tolls have been increased since September 1, 2013. At the meeting, the Thai authorities also considered export promotion for the rest of this year. Kittirat told journalists before the meeting that the Thai Ministries of Commerce and Industry are wooing local and overseas investors and will soon launch another package of incentives for the production of eco-cars. The deputy prime minister insisted that 20 economic measures the Thai government had introduced earlier could address all economic problems.(TNA)
