Rohingya migrants in Thailand relocated after riot

BANGKOK, September 8 (TNA) - Authorities in Thailand’s northeastern Nong Khai province had temporarily relocated 84 illegal Rohingya migrants to police stations across five districts after they attempted to break out of detention. Over 200 police officers reined in the riot before moving the migrants to police stations in Muang Nong Khai, Sa Khrai, Sang Khom, Sri Chiang Mai and Fao Rai. Structural repairs would be carried out at the detention centre after damage from riots since Thursday. The Bangladeshi embassy in Bangkok said it had found five of the migrants with Bangladeshi citizenship, meaning the group would be brought to Bangkok’s immigration office for repatriation. (TNA)
