Magician Kabir Khan Acknowledged By Malaysia Book Of Records

By Rosemarie Khoo Mohd Sani KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 9 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's internationally-acclaimed magician and mind-reader Kabir Khan Mohamad Reaz was Saturday awarded two certificates by the Malaysia Book of Records for his outstanding achievements. The 28-year-old has the distinction of being the first Malaysian who performed 21 straight shows in Hollywood, USA in 2011, and London last July. With 500 international shows under his belt since 2008, the man who looks set to become Malaysia's answer to international iconic magician David Copperfield said: "The recognition will help me inspire other youths to enable them to achieve their impossible dream. "This is a great achievement for me and someday, I hope to open a school of magic, maybe next year," he told the media after receiving the certificates at the Majestic Hotel here Saturday. Kabir Khan, who hails from Penang, received the certificates from Malaysia Book of Records managing director Danny Ooi. At the same event, the prime minister's son, Mohd Nazifuddin Najib, launched the magician's debut performance in the country, 'Kabir Khan: The Arrival', to be held on Sept 20, Oct 5 and 12. Also present was Business Magic Worldwide (M) Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Wong Yew Kai. Kabir Khan, whose interest in magic began when he was six, said his three performances were targeted at a mature audience and would feature psychic mind-reading and future prediction. "Come with an open mind and get ready to be dazzled," he said, when commenting on the shows for which tickets are priced at US$30 (RM100), US$45 (RM150) and US$60 (RM200). In recent years, Kabir Khan has been involved in high profile shows such as performing before the Royal Family in Dubai, hired by the Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority and was also chosen by Malaysia's Tourism Ministry to represent the country at prestigious venues. He is also a member of the Academy of Magical Arts, Magic Castle, USA and graduated in Manual Dexterity and Prestidigitation from the prestigious Chaves Studio of Magic in Los Angeles and McBride School of Magic and Mystery in Las Vegas, which makes him one of the very few certified magicians in the world. -- BERNAMA
