ISOC:Thai authorities have not accepted BRN's demands
BANGKOK, September 13 (TNA) - The International Security Operations Command (ISOC) has affirmed that Thai authorities concerned have not accepted demands raised by the Barisan Revolusi Nasional (BRN) insurgency movement.
A senior Thai army officer, Colonel Charoon Ampa, told reporters on Friday that copies of the BRN's 30-page written demands have been distributed to the concerned authorities and they have resolved unless they agree on joint stances towards the demands, they will not schedule the 4th round of peace talks with the BRN.
Colonel Charoon said the BRN’s announced demands through social media are informal and appear to be only its tactic and the media should, thus, not pay attention to them.
Earlier, Army Commander-in-Chief General Prayuth Chan-ocha denied a claim by BRN leader Hassan Taib that Thailand had accepted four out of five demands of the BRN.
The army chief insisted that Thai authorities will not respond, as the BRN did not communicate officially in the negotiating table, and that continual violent attacks in the Thai far South do not facilitate negotiations either.
According to the ISOC's updated statistics, Thai security officers have arrested 104 people for launching violent incidents in the troubled Thai deep South during the third quarter of this year and seized 144 items of weapons, while there have been nine clashes and 12 insurgents have been killed since early July 2013.
