Thailand, Italy to jointly develop high-quality and unique products

MILAN, September 13 (TNA) - Prime Minister and Defence Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has proposed that Thailand and Italy jointly develop high-quality and unique products for mutual interest. During her visit to Italy's Milan City on Thursday (local time), Yingluck opened “The Business Forum Thailand-Italy:Commercial and Investment Opportunities for Italian SMEs, during which she said Milan is the capital of global fashion and Thailand and Italy should, therefore, combine their strengths to develop high-quality and unique fashion products for the sustainable growth and increasing employment of both countries. Yingluck pointed out that Thailand has raw materials and skilled workers, while Italy possesses production quality and expertise, citing the Vittoria Group, which has based its motorcycle tyre research and development in Italy and its production in Thailand, as a good example. Yingluck suggested that Italian companies also invest in infrastructure projects in Thailand, including cross-border rail networks connecting to China, Russia and Europe, as well as Thailand’s deep-sea port project in neighbouring Myanmar's Dawei City. According to the Thai prime minister, the rail development networks should lead to a large number of related businesses, including cargo packaging, train interior decoration, catering and Internet services for business transactions on trains.
