RTA obtains membership of American PMI's Global Executive Council

Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has attained membership of the Global Executive Council of the Project Management Institute (PMI) based in Pennsylvania, USA, becoming the first public entity in MENA region to be awarded with membership of this prestigious council. The council's membership includes 80 big international corporate names such as NASA, Boeing, Microsoft, General Electric, Citibank, and IBM, and these entities represent a wide range of key aspects of projects management spanning construction projects, energy, IT, finance, aviation, and defence. Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the RTA, received a membership certificate from Mark Langley, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Projects Management Institute, in a ceremony held in Al Wasl Auditorium, RTA, in the presence of a number of RTA CEOs and members of the Global Executive Council. Al Tayer expressed his pride in obtaining this coveted achievement , saying, "Obtaining membership of PMI's Global Executive Council is a great quality step towards boosting the image of Dubai in this field. It also epitomises the strategic objectives sought by the RTA in the context of the drive to leverage the standing of Dubai amongst modern cosmopolitan cities under the leadership of Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum ." Laila Faridoon, Director of the Office of RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, Manager of Enterprise Projects Management Team Office and RTA representative in PMI's Global Executive Council, said, "It echoes RTA's capability of managing relationships with stakeholders and relevant parties and adds a further touch of excellence to this field thanks to its competent staff, sound data, and high-class administrative practices." – Emirates News Agency, WAM
