Draft amendment to law on diplomatic service submitted

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold last Friday submitted draft amendments to the laws on diplomatic service and on the government of Mongolia to parliament after having discussing them at the cabinet. As the The Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations (UN) is serving as the Concurrent Non-Resident Ambassador to Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Peru and other 61 countries, it has become necessary that the Permanent Representative to the UN has a status of Ambassador and that the President appoint and/or withdraw him after a consultation with parliament, said the Minister. As of today, Mongolia has diplomatic relations with 164 countries, with 15 of them were established in the last two years, furthermore, Mongolia will carry out negotiations on establishing such ties with other 30 countries.
