Spanish PM: Anti-Iran Sanctions Only Affect People, Must Be Revised

Tehran, Sept 28 IRNA – Spain’s foreign minister said in a meeting with the Iranian president on the sidelines of the 68th UN annual General Assembly in New York that anti-Iran imposed sanctions eventually affect people and they must therefore be revised soon. Confirming that it is actually the Iranian people who pay the price for the western imposed sanctions, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy reiterated, “Therefore, the EU member countries are willing to see a change in the conditions as soon as possible and to revise the issue of the sanctions.” The Spanish prime minister expressed hope for fast resolving of the issues between Iran and the European Union. He also exchanged viewpoints with President Rohani about the ongoing Syrian crisis. He, meanwhile, congratulated Rohani for his being elected as the president of the Islamic Republic of Iran and said, “Your being elected raised many hopes and elevated the expectations.” Prime Minister Rajoy referred to the historical relations between Iran and Spain, saying, “Iran is a great country with a proud history.” ** Imposed sanctions against Iran are blind The president of Islamic Republic of Iran, too, for his part expressed satisfaction over the constructive bilateral talks and emphasized the need for expansion of comprehensive Tehran-Madrid relations. Rohani reiterated, “Iran has always acted in accordance with related laws in its peaceful nuclear program and is now ready for easing the existing concerns based on reciprocal rights.” He said that the imposed sanctions against Iran are blind, adding, “Those who have imposed them, too, have come up with the conclusion that these sanctions have led to reverse results.” Focusing on the Syrian crisis, too, he said, “Everyone and every side must contribute to crisis resolving in Syria and to end the massacre of the innocent people there./end
