VIETNAM THANKS MALAYSIA FOR JOBS

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 14 (Bernama) -- Vietnam has thanked Malaysia for giving its citizens opportunities to work in this country.

Several Vietnamese senior ministers made this remark when meeting Foreign
Minister Dr Rais Yatim who is making a two-day visit to Vietnam from
Wednesday.

The Foreign Ministry said in a statement here Thursday that during the
visit, Rais met Vietnam's President Nguyen Minh Triet, Senior Deputy Prime
Minister Nguyen Sinh Hungh and Foreign Minister Dr Pham Gia Khiem who is also
Deputy Prime Minister.

In the meeting, Rais said there were 103,338 Vietnamese working in Malaysia
and in the future, workers from that country should have skills in certain
fields according to the needs of the industry and able to fit themselves with
the local situation and culture.

The statement said the two countries also agreed for Asean to apply eastern
values in its Human Rights Charter in line with the United Nations Human Rights
Charter.
