Scientific conference on transportation logistics held

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolia urgently needs to realize the biggest projects in transportation infrastructure, in oil, gas pipes, communications and energy networks under a policy on serving as a bridge between natural resources rich Russian Siberia and industrial region of China. It was said by a chairman of a parliamentary working group on drawing up a policy of transit transportation and logistics G.Batkhuu MP at a theory-practice conference themed "Transportation logistics in Mongolia: Present situation, further development" at the State House Thursday. The measure has been co-organized by the parliamentary working group, parliamentary Standing committee on economics, Mongolian National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MNCCI), Mongolian Association of Railway Engineers, "Mongolian Coal" Association and Mongolia’s Logistics Union (MLU). Highlighting all advantages and disadvantages of vehicles' types, Mr Batkhuu said that time has come to support the mixed kinds of transportation and logistics services with taking into account positive sides and characteristics of the vehicles in order to boost a logistics transportation. "Mongolia has been ranked 144th place by the world index of transportation logistics out of 155 countries released by the World Bank (WB), and the working group is working out a draft law on logistics," he added. Present at the conference were MPs and 100 delegates from professionals unions, Ministries and their agencies. They exchanged views on a present situation of the logistics sector and on experiences of other countries.
