Health Ministry Launches Psoriasis Clinical Practice Guidelines

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- The Health Ministry today launched a guideline for the treatment and management of Psoriasis Vulgaris to curb the skin disease from spreading. Health Minister Dr.S.Subramaniam said pamphlets of the guidelines have been distributed to all public and private medical practitioners. "There are 300,000 psoriasis patients but no specific treatment available. We have introduced methods to control the disease," he said after launching the pamphlets here. He said it covered various other skin diseases as well and precautionary steps to be followed when treating such patients. "The pamphlet is available to the public on the Ministry and Medical Academy's websites," he added. He said the research on the guidelines were carried for two years by 15 medical practitioners led by the president of the Clinical Practice Guidelines on the Management of Psoriasis Vulgaris, Dr. Choon Siew Eng. --BERNAMA
