Destruction Of Environment Affects Human Health

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Human greed on environmental activities has not only destroyed the ecosystem but also affected human health as well, said Deputy Natural Resource and Environment Minister Dr James Dawos Mamit. Therefore, he reminded the people on the importance of protecting the environment and promote national tourism activities. "As an example, we could plant trees around the house as trees function as a protector of humans from global warming and produce oxygen and water vapour," he told a media conference after opening the 2013 National-level Environment Week celebration. The event was launched by Natural Resource and Environment Minister G.Palanivel in Precinct 4, here Sunday. In his speech, Palanivel said efforts to combat environmental problems should not be solely the government's responsibility as it should be shared by all members of the community. He also called on all parties to work with the Environment Department to promote greater awareness on the environment. -- BERNAMA
