Journalists On Environmental Reporting: Trends And Challenges
SINGAPORE, Nov 7 (Bernama) -- Thirty Asian and European journalists from 30
Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) countries will participate in the upcoming 9th ASEF
Journalists’ Colloquium from Nov 9 to 12, in Gurgaon, Delhi, India.
They will share their first-hand experiences in reporting on issues related
to environmental crises, climate change and sustainable development.
This 9th edition of the ASEF Journalists’ Colloquium, ‘Media and the
Green Agenda’, will be an opportunity for the journalists to share their
perspectives from national and regional levels in a direct exchange with their
regional counterparts, Asia Europe Foundation (ASEF) said in a statement.
The event takes place in conjunction with the 11th ASEM Foreign Ministers'
Meeting to be held on Nov 11-12, in New Delhi, India.
The colloquium’s sessions will focus on sustainable development, poverty
reduction, energy as well as crisis reporting, and green growth.
The participants will discuss how these issues are viewed in different
countries across Asia and Europe, how they are reported in the media, and
explore the role of the media in bringing the stories to an interested and wider
public.
There will be two speakers for each session representing organisations, such
as the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), International
Institute for Environment and Development (IIED), and The Energy and Resources
Institute (TERI).
One of the tangible outcomes of the 9th Journalists’ Colloquium will be a
Handbook on environmental reporting.
This Handbook is a one-stop ready reference for media practitioners, working
in the field of environment, green energy and sustainable development.

closed-door, informal meeting to discuss important issues of common concern and
related media challenges.
