CABINET SUPPORTS AGREEMENT ON INTERNATIONAL TRANSFER OF SENTENCED PERSONS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The regular cabinet meeting on Saturday supported an intergovernmental agreement on sentenced persons transfer between Mongolia and Chinese Hong Kong. The cabinet also supported an intergovernmental agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters between Mongolia and Hong Kong, and decided to consult with a related parliamentary Standing committee on these agreements. In September of 2012 in Hong Kong with a visit, the Justice Minister Kh.Temuujin proposed to these agreements, and Hong Kong agreed to negotiate on the matter and to send its drafts. Upon receiving the them, the Minister formed a working group who studied Hong Kong versions and agreed on the final documents in May of 2013. According to the Foreign Ministry of Mongolia, there are two detainees and 21 sentenced Mongolians in Hong Kong, where our 127 citizens have been allowed a permanent residency. By September 30 of 2013, a total of 23,385 Mongolians have traveled to Hong Kong, the Immigration Department reports.
