DISTRICT OF CAPITAL CITY TO USE GEOTHERMAL HEATING

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The UB city's Bayanzurkh district administration Wednesday received Mr Raymond Ventzke, a drilling engineer of German Bauer group. At the meeting, the sides discussed chances of conducting a deep drilling project that aims at geothermal heating use for the household usage in the district. As today, many countries such as Japan, Australia, Germany, Russia and Switzerland use the geothermal heating technologies, Mr Ventzke highlighted. Representatives of the Bauer Group conducted a research in ground source heat in Mongolia last June. At the meeting Mr Ventzke was accompanied by directors of Uuriika Company, a representative in Mongolia of the Bauer Group. Present at the meeting were also Ts.Batkhuu, a head of the Citizens Representative Khural, T.Battsogt, a deputy-governor of the District and others. Geothermal energy originates from the heat retained within the Earth since the original formation of the planet, from radioactive decay of minerals, and from solar energy absorbed at the surface. There are a wide variety of applications for cheap geothermal heat. In 2004 more than half of direct geothermal heat was used for space heating, and a third was used for spas. The remainder was used for a variety of industrial processes, desalination, domestic hot water, and agricultural applications. Geothermal systems tend to benefit from economies of scale, so space heating power is often distributed to multiple buildings, sometimes whole communities. This technique, long practiced throughout the world in locations is known as district heating. Bauer Group, based in Germany, is an international provider of services, machinery and ancillary products in the earth-working and groundwater fields. The holding company is the parent of over 100 subsidiary businesses in the fields of construction, equipment and resources.
