Australia, ADB provide USD 20 m for Laos’ tourism development

(KPL) The Australian government and the Asian Development Bank have signed agreements to provide a total of USD 20 million - USD 10 million each, to Laos to support her implementation of the Greater Mekong Sub-regional Tourism Development (phase II). The signatories to last Friday’s signing ceremony were First Secretary of the Australian Embassy in Laos, Mr. Michael Hasset, Country Director of the ADB’s Lao PDR Resident Mission, Mr. Gil Hong Kim, and Deputy-Minister of Finance, Mrs. Viengthong Siphandone.
The Mekong Greater Sub-regional Tourism Development focuses on the sustainable tourism development and human resource development in tourism areas in Houaphanh, Oudomsay, Saravane, Sayaboury and Vientiane (province) and those provinces located along the regional corridors such as Bokeo, Luang Namtha and Savannakhet.
