Perlis Crown Prince Calls For Sustainable Coastal Forest Management

KANGAR (Perlis, Malaysia), Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Crown Prince of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail Thursday called for sustainable forest management in the coastal areas of the state. He said efforts to rehabilitate and preserve coastal forests should be enhanced and implemented continuously and integratively by the relevant agencies. Speaking at the Malaysia-Thailand Border Cooperation Through Planting of Mangrove Trees programme in Kampung Seberang Jaya, Kuala Perlis, near here Thursday, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also expressed hope that the inventory activity would be implemented in all forest areas to identify the status and composition of forests for future planning. He also called on institutions of higher learning and research agencies to carry out more forest-related research to empower the country's natural resources. The programme was also attended by Crown Princess of Perlis Tuanku Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and Governor of Satun Province Nuachai Jirrapirak. During the programme, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin also launched the book on Perlis Forest Management Plan 2013-2022. -- BERNAMA
