Intergovernmental committee agrees to activate operations in Asgat
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The main discussions of the Mongolia-Russia intergovernmental committee meeting were focused on further actions of the joint ventures and construction projects in Mongolia.
The 17th Mongolia-Russia intergovernmental committee meeting on trade, economy and technical cooperation successfully took place in Moscow on 26-27 November.
The meeting had great benefits in finding solutions to prevailing issues in frameworks of economic relations and cooperation of both countries.
At the beginning, the gathered discussed the implementation of decisions made at the previous intergovernmental meeting.
After that, the sides agreed to promote the outcomes of Mongolia-Russia joint ventures such as Erdenet Mining Corporation and Mongolrostsvetmet LLC, and to form a new joint company in the Asgat silver and copper deposit to give the deposit profits into economic circulation.
The sides also negotiated on bringing some changes into 1949' Ulaanbaatar Railway venture and its agreement.
The Deputy Minister of Energy of Mongolia D.Dorjpurev and his Russian counterpart Mr Yanovsky signed road map documents on further development of Mongolia-Russia energy cooperation.
In infrastructure and construction sectors, the sides agreed to cooperate in construction of railway, auto road, oil and natural gas pipelines, and electric lines that connect Russia and China, passing through the territories of Mongolia. The Russian part thankfully accepted Mongolia’s proposal to host the Mongolia-Russia-China trilateral high-level meeting on closest route railway construction.
During the meeting, D.Terbishdagva highlighted that the Mongolian Government is open to cooperate with Russia in the ongoing "100 thousand apartments" program.
Issues regarding a raise in numbers of Mongolian students receiving scholarships from the Russian Government, and involvement of Mongolian young scientists in research institutes of Russian Academy of Sciences were put forward at the meeting.
The sides also agreed to strengthen agricultural cooperation between the countries.
At the end of the meeting, a protocol that includes above-mentioned issues was signed by D.Terbishdagva and S.Donskoy.
The next 18th Mongolia-Russia intergovernmental meeting will run in Mongolia.
