Thai goods prices unchanged during New Year season
BANGKOK, December 8 (TNA) - Goods manufacturers in Thailand say they will not take advantage of the New Year season to raise the prices of household goods.
Meanwhile, trade officials are running random checks on price tags in the local market, in order to prevent unfair pricing schemes. This includes inspections at ticket booths at inter-provincial bus stations across the country.
Thai Deputy Commerce Minister Yanyong Phuangrach confirmed that even gift baskets sold during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays, would remain unchanged.
On Thailand’s political crisis, Yanyong said that despite an ongoing political deadlock, the country’s exports and local trade markets would not be affected. But the impact of the situation could affect next year’s investment atmosphere, including on the government’s 2.2 trillion baht infrastructure plan. (TNA)
