Thai private sector offers mediation role for political reform
BANGKOK, December 9 (TNA) - The Thai private sector has offered to be a mediator in attempts of a political reform pending the new general election.
Issara Wongkusolkit, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce's board and the Board of Trade of Thailand, announced the offer on Monday after a meeting of seven major organizations of the Thai private sector, saying that the House dissolution, announced by Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra earlier in the day, was a democratic act.
Issara praised both the government and protesters for trying to avoid violence, urging concerned parties to now work out solutions for national interest.
Issara opined, however, that the House dissolution appears not to be able to completely restore national order because the domestic political strife has been deep-rooted, reiterating that the private sector would like to be a mediator in attempts of a political reform pending the new general election.(TNA)
