S. Korean auto-parts exports to U.S. slightly rise in January-September

SEOUL, Nov. 19 (Yonhap) -- South Korean auto-parts exports to the United States
gained 1.1 percent in the first nine months of this year, despite a sales slump
in the world's largest vehicle market, according to industry data on Wednesday.

Auto-parts exports from South Korea to the U.S. rose to US$2.21 billion in the
January-September period, compared with $2.19 billion for the same period last
year, the data by the Korean Auto Industries Coop Association showed.
For the nine-month period, U.S. vehicle sales suffered a 12.8 percent contraction
as fears of economic recession and tightened credit forced buyers to shun
showrooms.
