Stricter inspection comes to internet cafes
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At the meeting on Saturday, the cabinet decided to impose tighter regulations to internet cafes and PC game places.
The cabinet approved guidelines on "Regulation on Cyber Game Place Operation", and assigned the Justice Minister Kh.Temuujin to monitor implementation of the guidelines that aim at not simply proper regulations on operations of such places, but also at crime prevention and child rights protection.
The guidelines also prohibit simultaneous operations of internet cafe and game center in one place, as well as operations in a first or ground floor of an apartment building. It demands a camera recording in such places, and insists on employing a staff with a basic knowledge of information technology and minimum age of 20. The document also prohibits service delivery to a user younger than 12, and to intoxicated ones.
Currently, some 500 internet cafes operate in Ulaanbaatar, where customers usually play violent games, sometimes staying overnight. Many parents complain that these places give the minor a chance to visit adult websites.
