Parliament rejects to dismiss ministers

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The parliamentary session Tuesday discussed a petition of lawmakers of the opposition Mongolian People’s Party (MPP) to dismiss two key ministers. After a lengthy question and answer session, a majority of MPs casted vote in favor of keeping the Economic Development Minister N.Batbayar in the office. For the Finance Minister Ch.Ulaan, MPs also decided that there is no need to dismiss him. A week ago, a petition demanding the two ministers to be held accountable for the ‘worsening economic condition’ and ‘high inflation in the nation’ was signed by all 26 MPP members of parliament. However, it was unlikely that the petition would be adopted in the ruling party-dominated parliament.
