Four northern provinces seek ways for export

(KPL) Officials of the northern provinces of Luang Prabang, Oudomsay, Luang Namtha and Sayaboury gathered in Luang Prabang province on 20-21 November to discuss ways to improve trade and export.
The participants learned the strategy of export, small and medium size enterprise development, the one-district and one-product campaign and other potentials of Laos, and opportunity of export.
At the same time, other challenges to goods and services of the four provinces were also raised in the meeting.
The workshop aimed at upgrading knowledge and capacity of the public and private sectors related to trade and export competitiveness by turning the nature-influenced and subsistent agricultural production to the market-oriented one. It also aims to strengthen rural communities, reduce the development gap between rural and urban areas, create job opportunities for local people and generate income for locals in order to release them from poverty.
The workshop on trade and export competitiveness was co-chaired by Mr Khamtio Yiakuanorheuvang, Deputy Secretary Party of Luang Prabang province, Mr Khamphanh Sengthongkham, Vice-Director, Department of Productivities and Trade Promotion.
