Some groups of people continue demanding peace
BANGKOK, January 28 (TNA) - Amid continued anti-government protests, highlighted by the so-called "Bangkok shutdown" led by the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), part of people in the capital and several other provinces have carried on their candle-lighting activity to demand for peace.
In Songkhla Province in the Thai South, people gathered at the Faculty of Law at the Hat Yai campus of Prince of Songkhla University and lit candles on Tuesday to call for peace and a general election.
In nearby Surat Thani, pro-government demonstrators did similar activities to demand for peace and the new general election on February 2. They confronted with anti-government protesters who showed up and blew whistles, but there was no clash.
In Ayutthaya Province, white-clad and pro-government demonstrators lit candles, sang the national anthem, demanded the general election on February 2 and announced their opposition to all kinds of violence.
In Rayong Province in the Thai East, a group of people turned up for the same purpose on the Ban Phe Beach, where they also gave alms to 100 monks and novices, released white balloons and birds and lit candles.(TNA)
