MICROSOFT & DELL OPEN FIRST RETAIL EXPERIENCE STORE IN MALAYSIA
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 (Bernama) -- Software company Microsoft Malaysia and computer maker Dell Friday opened their first Retail Experience Store in Asia at the Mid Valley Megamall shopping complex here.
The first of a kind digital lifestyle concept shop is aimed at enabling
customers to enjoy a more personalised experience in familiarising themselves
with computer products.
"The store will showcase the latest Dell desktop and laptop product lines
powered exclusively by Microsoft genuine software," Dell's senior marketing
manager for Asean, Ivan Omar, told reporters after the launching ceremony
Friday.
More than just a direct distribution channel, the Retail Experience Store
will offer after-sales support, thematic mini-seminars and an on-site
built-to-order sales coach to serve the needs of various end users, he
said.
"Malaysia is an important customer base for us to grow our business in
Asia. With this retail concept store, we can offer a unique kind of digital
experience to our Malaysian customers," Ivan said.
He added that Dell and Microsoft planned to open a similar store in
Thailand next month.
Microsoft Malaysia's director of Windows client group, K.T. Ng, said the
Kuala Lumpur store would serve as the benchmark for future concept stores around
Asia.
According to him, the store will cater mainly to students, housewives,
gamers and small-scale business operators.
