SEAMUS ACTIVITIES WILL GIVE PENANG A BOOST AS TOURIST DESTINATION

PENANG, Nov 22 (Bernama) -- The plan by the Southeast Asian Muslims for Freedom and Enlightenment's (SEAMUS) to make northern Penang state in Peninsular Malaysia, the venue for all its programmes will help boost the popularity of the state as a tourist destination, said Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng.

"The Penang government has planned to have the state and its cultural
diversity represent the uniqueness of Malaysia. Thus, SEAMUS' plan to have
Penang as their annual meeting point is most welcome," he said in a meeting with
SEAMUS members here Saturday.

SEAMUS which fights for human rights, gender equality and peace, was
established by a group of Muslim scholars and activists from Malaysia, Indonesia
and Singapore.
