MONGOLIAN CLIMBS ICE WALL IN SOCHI

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Mongolian D.Aknhbold has taken part in an ice climbing show amid the Sochi Winter Olympics. Before going to Sochi, Ankhbold had preparation at Ulaan Tsutgalan waterfall, the tallest naturally formed ice wall in Mongolia. The International Mountaineering and Climbing Federation, together with the International Olympic Committee organized the showcase during the Olympics Games in Sochi to remind that ice climbing had been one of eight sports short-listed for inclusion in the Winter Olympic Games. Ice climbing involves overcoming ice slopes using special equipment. Currently this discipline is a separated segment in mountaineering. Ice climbing competitions are held on both natural terrain and special artificial constructions–ice tracks.
