S. Korea to hold overseas promotion event for state bonds
SEOUL, Nov. 23 (Yonhap) -- South Korea said Sunday that it will hold a promotion
event in Singapore this week to explain current economic conditions in South
Korea and encourage foreign investors to buy its state bonds.
The investor relation (IR) meeting to be held on Monday will be attended by
around 130 members of global investment banks including Deutsch, Prudential and
UBS, the Finance Ministry said in a press release.
The event is arranged mainly to promote South Korea's won-denominated Treasuries
bond markets to foreign investors, the ministry said. South Korea usually holds
such overseas events to explain its dollar-denominated currency stabilization
bonds.
"We hope the IR session will help foreigners understand the overall South Korean
economy and expand the investor base so as to stabilize the local state bond
markets," the ministry said.
