Aso, Hu agree to promote good communication between them

LIMA, Nov. 23 Kyodo -
Japanese Prime Minister Aso Taro and Chinese President Hu Jintao agreed
Saturday they should continue visiting each other and holding telephone
conversations in an effort to promote good communication between them, Japanese
officials said.

During a meeting between the two Asian leaders, held on the sidelines of the
Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation forum summit, Hu said it was significant that
he and Aso visited each other this year, according to the officials.
Aso replied that he will keep close contacts with the Chinese leaders, they said.
Hu visited Japan in May, becoming the first Chinese president to visit Japan in
10 years. Aso visited China in October and separately met with Hu and Premier
Wen Jiabao.
Aso and Hu reaffirmed they will take economy-boosting measures, given the
deepening global financial crisis, the officials said.
Aso welcomed an estimated 4 trillion yuan ($586 billion) economic package
unveiled earlier this month by the Chinese government, they said.
The two leaders did not mention North Korean issues, according to the Japanese
officials.
Aso and Hu met for about 20 minutes at the venue of a dinner hosted by Peruvian
President Alan Garcia for the APEC leaders. The meeting was arranged hastily as
it was difficult to do so in advance due to their tight schedules.
