Vice FM attends UN Conference on Disarmament

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ While participating in the 25th regular session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) in Geneva, Mongolia’s Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs D.Gankhuyag attended a high-level Conference on Disarmament on March 2 of 2014. This meeting has made a decision to set up unofficial working group that is to discuss a working programme of the Conference on Disarmament. Several officials took the floor to express positions on the matter--a chairman of the UN General Assembly, Foreign Ministers, Vice FMs, State Secretaries of Slovakia, Argentina, Italy, Greece, Kazakhstan, Japan, Canada, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Qatar, Finland, Spain, Latvia and the Republic of Korea. The Conference on Disarmament (CD) is a forum established by the international community to negotiate multilateral arms control and disarmament agreements. Established in 1979, it was the forum used by its member states, currently numbering 65, including Mongolia, to negotiate the Biological Weapons Convention and the Chemical Weapons Convention. Mongolia will chair the CD in 2015.
