Seven countries import products from Luang Prabang

(KPL) Seven countries imported products and produces from Luang Prabang last year. The export of the province to these destinations brought almost 30 billion kip to the province.
China imported 8.3 billion kip from the province, Thailand did 12.3 billion kip, Vietnam brought 7.4 billion kip (25.76%), the Republic of Korea 25 million kip, France 138 million kip, Taiwan (China) 124 million kip and India 11.7 million kip.
The Luang Prabang Provincial Commerce Service said last week the majority of the province’s export is agriculture produce, sharing 18.1 billion kip of the province’s total export, especially sesame (333 tonnes), jute (430 tonnes), ginger (100 tonnes), job’s tear (3,166 tonnes), rice (60 tonnes), maize (1,400 tonnes) and paddy (430 tonnes).
In addition, non timber forest products also brought 3.1 billion kip to the province, which was equivalent to 10.72% of the entire export and wood processed products did 5.6 billion kip, equivalent to 19.44%.
The service says that this year Vietnam needs 100,000 tonnes of maize, China and Thailand need 10,000 tonnes of job’s tear and 5,000 tonnes of sesame, Thailand and Vietnam need 100,000 tonnes of soya, China needs 5.000 cubic metres of teakwood, Thailand needs the same product of 20,000 cubic metres and 10,000 handicraft items.
