S. Korea's Q3 e-commerce sales hit record high

SEOUL, Nov. 25 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's e-commerce sales jumped to an all-time high in the third quarter of this year mainly due to a spike in business-to-business (B2B) deals, a government report showed Tuesday.

On-line transactions amounted to 167 trillion won (US$110.3 billion) in the
July-September period, up 33.7 percent from a year earlier, according to the
report by the National Statistical Office. From a quarter earlier, transactions
grew 5.9 percent.
This marked the largest amount ever since related data began to be compiled in
2001.
B2B online transactions surged 33 percent to 151 trillion won from a year
earlier, leading the overall increase in third-quarter on-line trade deals.
Business-to-government deals also rose 53 percent to 11.4 trillion won, while
business-to-customer transactions advanced 17.5 percent to 4.6 trillion won, the
report showed.
