Pakistan Radar Has No Info About Malaysian Plane

Islamabad, March 16, IRNA – Pakistan said Sunday that its radar has no information about the missing Malaysian passenger plane; however, the country will share if it receives anything. The Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Ms Tasnim Aslam, offered the remarks after Malaysian government asked nearly 25 countries, including Pakistan, for assistance as the search for the missing jet liner continues. “Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, India, China, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and Australia have been approached. Malaysian officials are requesting assistance from these and other countries. This support includes general satellite data, radar playback, visions of ground and sea search and assets as appropriate,” Malaysia’s Transportation Minister Hishamuddin Hussein told reporters in Kuala Lumpur. Pakistan in a quick response said it will definitely share if it receives any information. “No information about the Malaysian plane is available at our radar as it has not entered our space,” Tasnim Aslam told the media when her reaction was sought about the Malaysian government’s request. “Our radar system has no information about the Malaysian aircraft as it has never contacted our control tower,” she said. The spokesperson rejected the U.S. media reports as non-sense that the missing aircraft might have been taken to Pakistan. “They (the US media) are losing its credibility by publishing such stories,” she said, adding that Malaysian authorities have not only sought Pakistan’s help but it has requested over 20 countries./end
