“Kakuryu” M.Anand to become Yokozuna

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A professional sumo wrestler of Mongolia Kakuryu Anand Mangaljav will be promoted to the highest rank of the professional sumo’s top division. At its meeting on Monday, the Yokozuna Deliberation Council (SDC) at the Japan Sumo Association (JSA) backed our wrestler to receive the Yokozuna title after he won the Haru basho (spring tournament) last weekend with 14 wins and one lose. M.Anand had been promised by the SDC to have the title if he has 13 wins or more at the spring tournament. He satisfied the condition by defeating a countryman “Hakuho” M.Davaajargal in their regulation match and only losing the title in a playoff against him on the final day. Kakuryu M.Anand became the sixth foreign wrestler and fourth Mongolian to reach the highest title of professional sumo.
