SCW to participate in AWO Award

Manama, Mar. 28. (BNA)Bahrain is to take part in the Arab Women Organisation (AWO) Science and Technology Award for Development 2014. The Supreme Council for Women (SCW) opened the doors to participants in the pan-Arab prize, which aims at encouraging Arab women researchers to dedicate their scientic and tehnological studies to the development of their communities. The $21,000 prize is evenly awarded to winners in three categories: engineering and technological sciences, ecology and biology. Candidates wishing to vie for the award are required to submit their researchers published in syndicated periodicals since 2009 before April 2. Researchers shall be submitted in Arabic, English and French, with a synopsis in Arabic. The Arab Women Organisation (AWO) reserves the right not to return the researches submitted by contenders, whose works shall not be used to vie for other awards. Candidates wishing to take part can get information and application forms on (AWO) portal or the (SCW) website www.arabwomenorg.org/techno-prizeform.pdf. The AWO is an intergovernmental organization established under the umbrella of the League of Arab States and headquartered in Egypt. It emerged from the Cairo Declaration issued by the First Arab Women Summit which convened in Cairo ,November 2000 and was co-organized by the National Council for Women in Egypt, Hariri Foundation in Lebanon and the League of Arab States. AWO’s agreement came into effect in March 2003. The AWO aims at coordinating Arab stances on women-related issues in regional and international arenas, in addition to promoting women’s status in the the economic, social, cultural, legal and media fields and integrating women’s needs in Arab development policies.
