Bahrain International Airport ready to welcome the 2014 Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain GP
Manama, Mar. 30. (BNA) -- With an influx of international travelers set to begin arriving; Bahrain Airport Company (BAC), announced its readiness to welcome this year’s Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix coming through Bahrain International Airport (BIA) to be held between April 4th and 6th. 2014
In line with its’ commitment to providing passengers with comfortable and efficient travel experience, BAC held a committee meeting to discuss preparations required to accommodate the teams, visitors and cargo arriving for the race. The committee has also reviewed and finalized arrangements to receive and welcome guests from all around the world, including VVIP guests.
The meeting was held at BAC headquarter, and included officials from Bahrain International Circuit, Civil Aviation Authority at the Ministry of Transportation, Immigration and Passport Control, Customs Affairs, and Airport Police from the Ministry of Interior, BIA Airport Operations, Gulf Air, Bahrain Airport Services, Marhaba Bahrain, Bahrain Limo Company, BEX Air, Marhaba and Bahrain Aviation Fuelling Company.
A Large number of visitors and cargo is expected to land at Bahrain International Airport (BIA) in time for the Formula 1 Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix via regular, additional, and chartered flights. "BAC is dedicated towards contributing to the success of this internationally-renowned event. This is achieved by cooperating with our partners in the private and public sector to ensure that all aspects have been reviewed and finalized prior to the race," said Vice President of Airport Operations at BAC, Mr. Mohammed Thamir Al Kaabi.
"Arrangements are made to streamline the movement of passengers and cargo in an efficient and timely manner and mitigating traffic issues around the airport," he said.
Hosted by the Kingdom since 2004, the sporting event has catapulted Bahrain on the international scene with over 500 million viewers watching the race and another 100,000 fans attending the event. It is one of the leading conventions in the Kingdom that stimulates the economy and adds to the growth of local tourism and travel sector.
BAC is the authority responsible for operating and managing Bahrain International Airport as a world-class airport. As part of its’ operator role, BAC is responsible for elevating the airport’s infrastructure and services. This set to improve the Kingdom‘s aviation capabilities; and to cater for the growing number of passengers as well as the changing demands of the airport’s stakeholders.
