M'SIAN FM TO VISIT ARGENTINA
KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 25 (Bernama) -- Foreign Minister Dr Rais Yatim is to
begin a three-day visit to Argentina Tuesday to enhance bilateral relations and
explore opportunities for greater cooperation.
Dr Rais, who is making his first visit to Argentina as the foreign
minister, will have talks with Argentine Foreign Minister Jorge Enrique Taiana.
"The visit will give the foreign ministers the opportunity to discuss
bilateral matters and regional and international issues of common interest," the
foreign ministry said in a statement.
It said Dr Rais would also meet with members of the Malaysian community in
Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina.
The foreign ministry said the volume of trade between Malaysia and
Argentina last year amounted to RM3,108 million, with Malaysian exports to the
South American country being RM616 million.
The volume of trade between the two countries between January and July this
year was RM1,422 million and the balance of trade was in Argentina's favour, at
RM718 million, it added. (US$1=RM3.62)
