IMMIGRATION AGENCY SEES STRUCTURAL CHANGES

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Under a new law on borders effective from this April 1, some functions of the border authorities have been passed to the immigration agency. The agency has began operating under a new name of "Citizenship and Immigration General Authority" (CIGA), with eight affiliated agencies in Buyant Ukhaa (Chingis Khaan international airport), Selenge, Dornogovi provinces and four regions. These structural changes greatly eliminate functional duplication of public agencies and enable to run border checkpoints actions in fewer stages, with less labor force, said B.Purevdorj, chairperson of CIGA during opening of the newly-structured agency on Tuesday.
