Russia's membership in PACE will be pointless if heavy restrictions on Russia passed- Pushkov

STRASBOURG, April 10 (Itar-Tass) -- A PACE commission on monitoring has backed an amendment envisaging that Russia should be stripped of the right to vote at PACE, take part in missions of PACE observers or be represented at the Presidential committee and the PACE Bureau, head of the Russian delegation to PACE Alexei Pushkov said.
"If the Assembly approves the proposed amendment the restrictions imposed on the Russian delegation will render its activities at PACE pointless," Pushkov said.
On Thursday PACE intends to revise the powers of the Russian delegation at PACE. On the agenda is a draft resolution which envisages taking sanctions against Russia in "a soft variant" without freezing Russia's membership in PACE.
